"Earn While You Learn" is a reward system in which
 our clients earn "Blessing Bucks" for actions that indicate responsible choices. 
The first time our client visits us, we give them $10 worth of Blessing Bucks to
use in our clothing room.  They are then given a list of ways they can "earn" more (see the list).
We see this as a way for our clients to increase their parenting skills and experience the
value of responsible choices.  In cases of emergency we always attempt to meet
the need, with or without Blessing Bucks, but we look at this program as a way to
improve the quality of help that we can provide our clients, much like the
Baby Bed Program.  The items that we give out are both new and used.

The most exciting aspect of this program is that it already has God's handprint all over it!
From the very beginning when the program was being put together,
there was a concern whether there would be enough new items
to give out... and then they began to pour in!

After completing our first year of this program, several benefits have become obvious.  Our clients are experiencing the satisfaction of providing for their families through their own efforts, plus the added benefit of the good choices they are making. 

Ways to Earn Blessing Bucks

Breast feed your baby
First time visit
Pre-natal or immunizations/well baby check-up (show record)
Keep scheduled appointment at TSFS
Be on time for scheduled appointments at TSFS
Read a pre-selected chapter from a book and write a report
Attend a bible study and complete worksheet
Attend a CPR class - bring certificate
Give blood (bring donation card)
Volunteer in the community (bring verification)
Bring a new client referral
Serve in a local church (bring verification)
Attend TSFS/CSH volunteer training
Attend GED classes (teacher sign off)
Attend classes at TSFS (other than to earn a crib)
Get a library card (bring verification)
Take your child to story hour at the library
Watch a video at TSFS and complete an evaluation
Call to cancel a scheduled appointment at least 24 hours beforehand
Watch and educational video at home complete report
Follow a daily Bible reading plan and report
Complete a labor/delivery class at hospital (with a signature)
Write a summary of a brochure from TSFS Volunteer at a child's school
Meet with a volunteer at TSFS
Write a report from a web site on Parenting
